Rough Science Holiday Workshops!

Students building structures with wooden sticks and popsicle sticks, and one student pouring smoke into a glass for a science experiment.

Science doesn't need a lab coat. It needs curious minds, everyday materials, and a willingness to get a little messy.

Our workshops bring hands-on experiments straight to you. Whether that's holiday care, your school's Science Week, a library program, or even a corporate team day. We pack the gear, you provide the space, and together we turn kitchens into laboratories and backyards into discovery zones.

Led by science presenters who know that the best learning happens when you're elbow-deep in an experiment, our sessions are designed to make everyone feel like a scientist … because they are.

Person holding a cup of green slime with slime stretching out of the cup, labeled 'SLIME!' in black marker.

World’s Greatest Slime

Get hands-on with the gooey, stretchy, squishy science of slime! Kids become chemists as they explore polymers, reactions, and the science behind everyday ooze.

Each child creates their own slime to take home. Plus instructions on how to keep the experimenting happening in your kitchen.

Warning: messy, sensory, seriously fun.

Close-up of a person's arm with a fake wound made of dough and fake blood to mimic a bloody wound, with the words "Fake wounds" written at the bottom.

Blood & Guts: Fake Wounds

Learn the science behind cuts, scrapes, bruises, and scabs … then make your own!

Kids discover how the body heals itself, then raid the kitchen cupboard (scientifically speaking) to create realistic, gloriously gross fake wounds. They'll invent the story behind their injury and learn about skin, veins, arteries, and blood.

It's biology meets theatre, with a big dose of creative science and a splash of "eww!"

A water rocket in mid-launch, with water flying out of its base and creating a splash on the grass, labeled 'Water Rockets' on the bottom of the photo.

Launch Lab: Water Rockets

Recycled bottles. Bike pumps. Physics. Blast rockets skyward.

Kids experiment with air pressure, water pressure, and the perfect launch formula while exploring Newton's laws of motion. Expect splashes, laughter, and serious science in action.

This one's outdoor only … and gloriously wet!

A homemade paper rocket mounted on a black launch pad with a green and blue paper body and fins on a launcher set on a wooden floor.

Launch Lab: Paper Rockets

How far can your rocket fly?

Kids design, build, and launch their own paper rockets using launcher powered by compressed air! They'll learn about forces, aerodynamics, and the key components every rocket needs.

Hands-on STEM meets creative problem-solving … and everything you build actually flies!

A tabletop earthquake simulator, testing a building made by a student from paper straws and plasticine. The word "EARTHQUAKE!" is written at the bottom of the photo.

The Great Earthquake Challenge

Shake, rattle, and build!

In this engineering challenge, kids design and construct buildings that can survive an earthquake … then test them on THE EARTHQUAKE MACHINE.

Discover why buildings stand up, what makes them fall down, and the geology behind natural disasters. Watch your structure shake, wobble, and (fingers crossed) survive.

A small circuit that has been built on top of a diagram using a battery, wires, an LED, and aluminum foil to demonstrate tiny circuits.

Tiny Circuits

Flip switches. Light up LEDs. Build circuits that actually work.

Kids learn how batteries power our world, then use LEDs, resistors, and transistors to create their own circuits. No soldering, no stress … just screw-down components and 9-volt batteries.

Start simple, end with working electronics you built yourself.

A marble run made from cardboard with colorful icy-pole sticks attached and handwritten notes. A label reads "Marble Runs".

Marble Runs

Become a pinball wizard! Build tracks, test angles, and race marbles through gravity-powered madness.

Kids explore kinetic and potential energy as they design and construct their own marble runs. Experiment with speed, slopes, and physics … then take your creation home to keep the fun rolling.

It's engineering you can hear, see, and tinker with endlessly.

A paper flower with orange petals, yellow pipe cleaners for the stamen, and a straw for the pistil. It is placed in a white cup filled with blue tissue paper. The project is labeled "Build a Bloom" in black marker on a white background.

Build a Bloom

Flowers need bees. Bees need flowers. How does the deal work?

Kids discover the science of pollination — how flowers attract pollinators, why petals have patterns, and what nectar is really for. They’ll build their own scientifically accurate (and seriously creative) flower to take home.

It's botany meets art, with a side of sneaky plant strategies.
